Per, I like your idea, but I think there may be a buyer closer to home. IBM has decided to take losses forever in PCs to hold market share. They are AMDs first and top customer for the K7. If the thing works like it has tested, they may be interested in getting out from under Intel's price-gouging thumb

But their purchase of sequent refutes the idea. That makes it unlikely for them to use K7 in high end servers. Any company that take over AMD will see a significant earning hit, at least for the short term. IBM is not going to sacrifice its earning growth on AMD. It better be a company that have no earning to speak of in the first place, like CPQ, or MU :-P
