What do you make of AMD's stock price being largely unaffected by Atiq's departure?

AMD is currently shipping the world's fastest x86 microprocessor to OEM's. This stock should be trading at $30. Tad seems to be the only analyst around who is not comatose.

Greaterfool,

Re:" What do you make of AMD's stock price being largely unaffected by Atiq's departure? "

The stock price has been severly affected.

The conference call was full of good news.

The stock finished at 18 1/2 yesterday and would probably have rallied to $20 or so.

Now everybodys worried again.

This company can't do anything right and this exit of ATIQ was handled as badly as anything I've ever seen.

If there were personal issues - like health etc - he could have quitely cut back his hours and etc with no major issues in everybodys mind.

If it was a personnell fight between Jerry and Atiq - the board should have dumped Jerry.

Either way - announcing it with no pre-information - at same time as quarterly numbers was plainly dumb.

In fact if sombedy had wanted to create the maximum amount of FUD, distress and confusion about AMD and K7 they could not have done much better than these idiots.

Regards,

Kash

Greater Fool - RE: "What do you make of AMD's stock price being largely unaffected by Atiq's departure?"

The stock is down a little today, rather than being up on good Athlon production news.

Atiq's leaving may not have had an adverse effect because during the CC, it didn't sound like his leaving was going to have a negative effect on AMD when dealing with the AMD's trump card, the Athlon.
