Tom Dorsey Point & Figure is one of the best charting books I have ever seen. The guy is a wiz!

I do not get this TA stuff at all..

Apparently Russell Horowitz does. Afterall, GNET purchased iqc.com <VBG>

And while see that it did make a move to the upside after I posted, it met intraday resistance at $88 and came back down to $86-87 range.

We need to plow through $89 in order to get us up to the next minor resistance level at what appears to be $94.

If we break down through $85-86 then we're do for more consolidation ahead of earnings on the 21st.

Tomorrow should tell us more since its options expiration.

Regards,

Ron

Are there books on TA? There seems to be a book industry on the subject. Hop over to amazon.com and do a search for "technical analysis" AND market. That will turn up 30 books. A wider search without "market" gives over 90 titles. If you don't want to do a search, here's a quick summary from a GNET site: iqc.com

You'll find a few interesting discussions here on SI, but most of them seem to disintegrate quickly into shouting matches.

If you'd like to see some definitions of the various terms, and chart patterns, there are several web sites, but GNET owns one of the better ones at iqc.com.

levy,

One of the best books that I have found for TA is John J. Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets.1999. It presents a great introduction and overview into to basics of technical analysis and the author is truly one of the "fathers" of TA. Although there are those who say that I could find the back of a cereal box interesting, I really did enjoy reading this book. It's well written with a tremendous amount of technical information presented with enough 'flow' that it is not an effort to read. For the truly studious, there is an accompanying workbook.
A little knowledge of TA is a good thing.
