<Serious question: Why has Intel been having so many design problems lately???>

Actually, the "design delays" are nothing new. Pentium (P5) had its own delays, as well as Pentium Pro (P6). The only difference is visibility.

Cringe - Re: "Why has Intel been having so many design problems
lately??? "

When th design specs change, the schedule slips - and Willamette seems to be a design-in-progress.

Re: "They're starting to make AMD look good."

AMD always looks good - they are an outstanding corporation.
