Skeeter, I think they backed off a little on the conference call. Dan Niles (you know, Mr. "given that MU has 25% of the DRAM market") asked the market share question and their response was something like "most people would put us at 15-20%". Why don't these companies post transcripts of their conf. calls on their websites? Speaking of Niles... Guess what genius wrote the following 6-24-99: "We would use the latest rally to sell the stock with risk to the low $30's...Given a tough unit and ASP environment for PC's going into the summer, we do not expect any relief in the DRAM market till late August at the earliest." Niles, of course. And going back to market share, Mona Eraiba had some interesting things to say about market share in her 6-24-99 note: "Despite the sequential decline in revenue, MU did better than the overall market, as the global DRAM industry shipment declined 24%% sequnetially..." Which is followed later by: "We believe that the 48.0 multiple is justified given that Micron's market share is expected to rise to 20% from 23% in the next nine months..." I will once again put on the cap of the "naive fool who expects research coming from the supposed 'experts' should make logical sense" and ask the following: If MU shipped 8% more sequentially and the industry "declined 24% sequentially"... ...then why is the market share line Gruntal has been repeatedly using unchanged? If they really believed them to be at 20% back in April, and MU grew shipments faster than the industry over the quarter, why haven't their market share assumptions budged? Any doubt that those types of questions were not asked in that VCALL call she did yesterday. Hey, VCALL, why not open up the lines to live questions? Hey, Mutlex, why not a live chat instead of allowing these characters time to dance around? Good trading, Tom
