Glen Raven Mills Selects MTI Storage to Support Enterprise Resource Planning Infrastructure Textile Manufacturer Consolidates Enterprise Data Using MTI's Fibre Channel Solution ANAHEIM, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- MTI Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: MTIC - news), a leading provider of enterprise storage solutions, announced that textile manufacturer Glen Raven Mills Inc. has implemented MTI's modular enterprise RAID solutions and storage management software. The Fibre Channel-based Gladiator 6700 and 3600 storage arrays will support Glen Raven Mills' enterprise resource planning (ERP) infrastructure and development of online transaction processing (OLTP) applications. MTI DataSentry software will assist the company with its Y2K testing program as well as reduce system backup time. North Carolina-based Glen Raven Mills required a high-performance Fibre Channel solution that could support the company's ERP system. The Gladiator storage solutions offer extensive capabilities and scalability with Fibre Channel connectivity that provides Glen Raven with a path toward future implementation of Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies. The MTI storage solution also provides Glen Raven the flexibility necessary to effectively support the company's data access requirements. ''ERP is a critical component to the overall operations of Glen Raven Mills, from manufacturing to executive suite applications,'' said Dave Harrison, Glen Raven's corporate director of information services. ''For ERP to function at its highest level, the storage component must be able to support the system's overall functionality. MTI provided Glen Raven with an effective storage solution that enables the company to standardize on Fibre Channel and easily scale to an enterprise SAN. ''MTI's long-term strategy for SANs and Fibre Channel played an important role in Glen Raven's decision to implement a new storage infrastructure based on the Gladiator product line. In addition, the DataSentry software will play a significant role in our preparations for Y2K system compliance.'' MTI's enterprise storage solution will be integrated into Glen Raven's new Oracle ERP implementation running on Hewlett-Packard 9000 servers. The ERP system will be used by more than 200 personnel in the financial, manufacturing and purchasing departments. Glen Raven's ERP system provides real-time, online query and reporting capabilities for all aspects of the company's operations. MTI's Gladiator storage servers combined with MTI's DataSentry replication solution support the ERP infrastructure to ensure backup, restore and disaster recovery capabilities and reduce planned downtime. According to Harrison, the Gladiator 3600 has significantly reduced Glen Raven's scheduled processing time by 75 percent. In addition, the Gladiator 6700 will be a vital component of Glen Raven Mills' development, testing and training for its OLTP applications. By providing the enterprise with virtually continuous access to corporate data, MTI's storage solutions enable Glen Raven to gain tremendous benefits in overall productivity. ''Continuous access to data has become a vital necessity to managing business effectively, especially in an ERP environment,'' said Kevin J. Liebl, MTI vice president of marketing. ''MTI's SAN solutions offer a high degree of cross-platform support, permitting interoperability between a variety of hardware systems and operating environments. These enterprise storage products are designed to offer flexible and cost-effective solutions for managing massive volumes of corporate information.'' The Gladiator storage servers are designed to meet the needs of high-end data centers requiring high-performance, fault-tolerant storage. The modular storage system can scale up to more than a terabyte of data. It employs Fibre Channel serial interconnect technology that is the basis of SAN solutions offering superior storage flexibility and manageability. The Gladiator systems can be scaled for a variety of applications that demand high bandwidth and maximum transfer rates, such as transaction processing, imaging, e-commerce, data mining, large enterprise data warehouses, binary large objects (BLOBS) and large database servers. ...................
