AMZN: partly an internet VC firm and partly the future king of eCommerce.

JMHO, but I think 156 is not a ceiling.

Many people regularly beat up Bezos on this thread. I think his stealth approach to issuing equity to raise money by way of convertible debt is awesome. Forget about secondary public offerings. Too much visible dilution with too much publicity.

I like to think that the street will give Bezos some credit for using this strategy so effectively, and that 156 will not be a ceiling. It is only a ceiling if there is massive selling of the converted stock.

Bezos is taking this money and buying quality internet companies (like Drugstore.com) at prepublic prices. Wait till a few of these companies go public at multibillion dollar market caps. He can show a 3x to 5x to 10x? return on the investments for AMZN shareholders AND have the synergistic business relationships.

AMZN is partly the future king of eCommerce and partly an internet venture capital firm.

As a long-term investment, I love it.
