Oh, agreed. My father's second wife built houses, she acted as the general contractor, and hired subcontractors. She had been office manager for a construction company for years, and she knew what she was doing. And she lost her shirt in the housing crash late 80's, early 90's, whenever that was. Lost her blouse.

I used to go out to the sites with her, I know what a professional crew looks like. You've got electricians, plumbers, drywall guys, roofers, masons, they don't cross specialties all that much. From what I could tell, anyway. Jack of all trades is the master of none. Do the job, bam, and go to the next job.

Marilyn never would have stood for the crap I've seen these guys doing, like leaving paint on the glass. Throwing debris on the grass, and leaving it there, so the grass is being killed. Shit like that really pisses me off. A good painter doesn't need to tape, but he doesn't get paint on the windows, either. And how much trouble is it to wipe paint off hardware, like hinges and such? A competent person does the thing right the first time.
