>>FWIW, I think NETA will gap up at open tomorrow <<

You dont think they are tired?
Without more hypers about buyouts, great earnings and new management I think falling from 22 1/2 to 19 to close near the lows on 15 mil shares? Who is going to be stupid enough to put in market order?
The shorts already know, They did the same setup twice before. And this time they also have some big institutions wanting out real bad.

CHICAGO, July 15 (Reuters) - Options volume remained heavy Thursday for a third consecutive day in Network Associates Inc. NETA , and implied volatility perched at fairly high levels as takeover rumors continued to circulate, brokers and analysts said.

Implied vols for the August 20s remained in the 85- to high-90-percent area, up from the prior week's 80-percent region, said market makers at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and Pacific Exchange (PCX).

"In the front month -- the August, the earnings month -- it's in the high-90s," said Arvin Fong, a lead market maker at the PCX. "Something's up.... I just heard it's a takeover candidate."

Steve Kosanovich, a CBOE market maker, said he had not heard any solid reasons for the continued brisk turnover "other than what you hear in the (Internet) chatrooms" about a possible takeover.

"There are takeover rumors," wrote Larry McMillan of McMillan analysis on Thursday for a second consecutive day about Network Associates.

Network Associates officials could not immediately be reached for comment on the rumors or stock activity.

Options volume was slightly lighter than during the last couple of sessions but still was hefty, said Kasanovich.

"There're a lot of people buying calls, buying puts, but mainly buying calls," he said.

Tuesday's options volume totaled more than 21,700 contracts in the multiple-listed option, and Wednesday's turnover was nearly 27,900.

By 1220 CDT/1720 GMT on Thursday, options volume on the CBOE, Pacific Exchange and American Stock Exchange totaled roughly 11,175 contracts. That compares to a daily average of about 4,500, including the effect of the recent volume spikes.

Volume also was heavy in the Nasdaq-listed stock, with some 12.9 million shares traded after midday Thursday on the heels of daily totals exceeding 20 million shares each on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Thursday, shares of the California-based network security software maker were down 1-5/16 at 19-7/8 after rising as high as 22-7/16 earlier in the day.

The stock this week has probed the upside after hurdling 16-3/4 on Monday, resistance formed during a multi-month consolidation that followed a drop to nearly $10 in late April from January's peak near $67.

The company is expected to report second-quarter earnings on July 21, with the First Call mean consensus calling for a $1.05 loss.

It made Bearish Engulfing Pattern today for any TA people.
A reversal pattern on the Candlestick Charts, after a uptrend. May see some more downside. Even if it gap's up it will lose it most likely. Look at a historical chart to see what NETA has done every time this pattern is seen in a uptrend.

USWB ... just did some 'look-ups' on this ... It's looking good now ... but going to have a hard time getting over 31 ... lots of newsletter people that bought for an 'earnings play' are stuck in it and just itching to dump it as soon as they get even. So 30 to 31 is a good sell target for your position hold ... that's resistance
