PB,

<This does not impress me. I see all kinds of MHz numbers that are not on the map. However, often times these are not manufacturable, i.e., they yield very poorly or very low binsplit, during various stages of development. Intel has been in the habit of having excellent availability when they release desktop products. The jury's out on AMD. Case in point, where in the world is the K63?

How many 700MHz K7's do you think there are right now Chuck? There very well may be a handful. I wonder how many they need before the red phone goes off in Jerry's office so he can make an announcement. Ten?>

You asked me to compare two product that are not shipping in volume and I answered back with that specific caveat.

Now, ask me where my money is and I will tell you I haven't put much in AMD for a lot of the reasons that you state.

If there aren't any doubts about AMD, this stock wouldn't be where it is.

Chuck

PB,

Remember that K7 is a brand new design, and that speed work has just begun. Compare that to Coppermine- which is an end of life core.

The prognosis for K7 is very good.

PB, Re <<Case in point, where in the world is the K63?>>

This question was asked in the CC. K63 is not selling well because it does not have high enough MHz. Consumer cares more about MHz than actual performance.

K7 is different in the case that it has/will have high MHz as well as actual performance.
