Tejek,

Re:" Half the criticisms you make in your post come from hindsight....no one really knew on this thread that intc had so discounted prices and that the oems had cut so much of their business with AMD that it was stuck with a large surplus of chips until AFTER it was announced by AMD. I suspect AMD reacted as fast as it could.....but after the first quarter who would believe that they would have too many chips instead of too few. "

So when Intel leverages Celerons and PIII's and Xeons to exclude AMD then what will be the excuse.

When Intel leverages its Motherboards plus CPU's will they be whining again.

Look there is NO reason they cannot compete with the K6's. They need to cut out margins at VIA by using their own chipsets. they need to sub out the MB's to taiwan manufactures and bypass the margins for folks like ASUS etc.

They also need to cut their disti's out in modest volume deals and sell direct and cut another 10-20% margins.

They need to COMPETE and be NIMBLE on their feet and OUT hustle the Intel guys.

It does not appear to me that they are doing this they will be whining again when they get their ass kicked by Intel.

They have a killer product with the K7.

My fear and expectations are that by the time it is truly ramped by Q2 2000 that Intel will have leveraged them out again.

Regards,

Kash.

WRONG !

I Knew.

I even posted it here on the AMD thread - in late April or the first week of may - nearly TWO MONTHS before AMD fessed up.
