Tell me about it. It was my wife's turn to host a casino night for some women at her company a few weeks ago. There were about fifteen chattering magpies traipsing around our house for awhile. After a few margaritas that crew sounded like a bunch of roustabouts. One gal was trying to tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue. She explained to me that it was a lot easier to do it with a maraschino cherry stem. I think I responded with something witty like bdyeah bdyeah.

I seem to recall that you are correct about the loudness...Once, long ago, my wife went to a (female) strip club on a dare, and was amazed to discover that the men who frequented it seemed almost apathetic about the stripping going on on stage. Sure, some of them were transfixed, but quietly so, and the rest chatted or casually drank...I confess that I have only read excerpts from Sexual Personae, not the whole, so I do not recall Paglia's treatment of this particular thing....
