Do you know if the $263 mil. is the actual amount being asked for by Bristol? The news stories I've seen suggest it is. I wonder if that amount would be tripled as happens with jury awards in many (most?) antitrust suits. $789 million gets into the uncomfortable range.

But even if the amount is tripled, I agree that the greater damage would come from having that verdict hanging over them -- especially one from a jury that's less susceptible to review on appeal. (Awards are often reduced, but the courts are less likely to overturn the jury's verdict on the facts.)

The big thing against Bristol is that Mainsoft agreed to the same license that Bristol rejected. Hopefully the jury will decide based on the facts.

263 million was the figure I noticed. That's about 32 times their 1998 earnings ; a bit much. The settlement should be reduced from 263 million based on that.

If MSFT can get over this hurdle and earnings are postive on Monday (of course they will be) we could be in for a much deserved big rally ;)

I'm staying positive...
