look like TSMC and UMC are not doing very well right now:

Taipei, July 16 (Bloomberg) -- Taiwan's key index posted its
biggest decline in more than three and a half years, after a
report China has put southern military regions on alert in the
wake of political tension across the Taiwan Strait.

The TWSE index plunged 509.92, or 6.4 percent, to 7408.12,
the biggest decline since January 1996. The index fell 13 percent
this week after Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui described ties
between the two as 'state-to-state,' provoking condemnation from
China that disputes Taiwan's sovereignty. High-tech stocks such
as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. paced the slide after
rising 18 percent as a group in seven weeks.
''Investor confidence has collapsed,'' said Frank Hsu, a
vice president at Kwang Hua Securities Investment and Trust Co.
with NT$57 billion ($1.8 billion) in assets. ''The economy would
be ruined if China uses forces against Taiwan.''

stock talk, I think SIII has huge potential in not only portable music but also graphics and networking now with the purchase of DIMD.
SIII through UMC can buy the flash memory for RIO very, very cheaply, almost direct. They now have the number one branded audio playback device in the world. I see them kicking some ass in MP3 type players. With a direct channel from the Savage4 to the graphics boards through Micronics(DIMD) they have great leverage there also, and another big brand in the Viper Line from DIMD. SIII is a fully vertically integrated company now, with tremendous upside potential.
Now if they can leverage HomeFree PNA and make a wireless home networking product that rivals Proxim's,this company is gonna fly.
