Stick with one of these...

LG Electronics is Zenith.
I think Billy has a Cube based Samsung player.

I'm suspecting JVC one of the "can't announce" wins.
I also still suspect Toshiba, even though there's some evidence against it.

I'm planning on getting Toshiba's newest model in a couple of months.

<OT> Brad, I have a Samsung DVD-927 with a ZiVA chip inside (viva 1 million ZiVAs!!). You can see it at sosimple.com
It is an excellent player at a great price. I would buy it again at the price I got, but if I had my entire wish list I would look for these features:

(1) a carousel changer (so far Sony may make the only one, but this feature allows you to trash your CD player/changer. CDs will sound much better on your DVD player than on your present CD player). My guess is that Toshiba will have one soon.

(2) smooth fast forward AND reverse (a fun toy)

(3) outputs for DTS (if you're into this sort of thing)

(4) Built-in Dolby AC-3 decoder

(5) Ability to play CD-R and CD-RW (most of the current laser pickups won't do this, and it's important only if you burn your own CDs or VCDs).

The Sony players have received great reviews, but I have not been very impressed (with owning) their consumer CD players, etc. I would take a good look at the Toshiba models.
