Heinz, I think HongKong is weak in sympathy to the sell-off in Taiwan, obviously if a war with nuclear weapons were to occur between China and Taiwan, Hong Kong as a trading partner would suffer, as well as a destabilization of the region.

you are right about the currency board. Duff and P. came out with a forecast of a yuan devaluation within 6 months. This would be negative for HK and the region.

there has been a curious bout of weakness in Hong Kong as well...another market
that is linked to the dollar via a currency board. never mind the immediate 'reason' -
