Fibre Channel is the enabling technology for Storage Area Networks and fiber optics is the medium of choice. Pundits claim that SANs will do to the storage market what LANs did to the computer market. Fibre Channel is a very hot sector and QLGC is right in the thick of it.

Fibre Channel, from what I have heard, is the new method for transfering data. Basically, we go from SCSI to USB to fibre.

The big boys are hot and heavy into fibre. CPQ (Digital) was beating it's chest a year ago about how they had a fibe channel arrangement you could buy. It connects the computers to the hard discs, etc that are nodes on the net. Fibre is big because of the load plus no emf problems.

Mercedes has fibre channel in its cars for the stereo system. I never thought about it but it is a great idea because it kills the emf static.
