T better get off the dime and recognize that Case and co. are lobbying fools. What starts off as a singular aberration, Portland, has now spread to Fl., and could be picked up elsewhere. Although it may be seen here as a vast mistake that the FCC will remedy, don't count on it if the political wind blows too far and hard in Armstrong's direction. The FCC wants competition and cable has not been annointed as its messiah. It could just as well be the RBOC's competing in each other's territory; satellite based service; independent cellular; electric utilities; or whoever can lug that stream of data the last mile. The competition is using political clout and alliances w/ the baby bells to slow down the progress for cable, cable better focus, return fire and make AOL and friends find that a world w/ cable is better for them than not. The battle is just starting and T can't afford to give up an early lead, they're already coming off the bad rap as the stifling old monopoly of yesteryear and that is a big first strike against T. I hold that there's a great future here and a wonderful opportunity, but it can't be squandered or big T will only stand for trouble. Neal
