Microsoft's annual gains...

Here's the price Microsoft closed at on the first Friday of January.

90 1.1169
91 2.0831
92 4.7188
93 5.4453
94 5.3281
95 7.5781
96 10.7969
97 21.1563
98 32.7813
99 69.3438

You can do the math if you want, but to me, 98 was a good year. So was 91. I didn't record the prices before 1990, but from memory, Microsoft didn't hit high gear until Windows 3.0 released (May 90) and Office caught on some time later. In fact, it was molasses money in the 1980's. (But it still outperformed my other stocks!)

Hope this helps, Fred.

Disclaimer: I don't type too well. I copied these numbers from paper to computer, to paper, to this post. Prices rounded down to nearest eighth when originally recorded. If market closed Friday, Thursday price used. Plenty of places for errors to creep in.
