What does what do? The company, I don't know, I just heard of them and have not done any searches. APS is a (fairly) new imaging technology that is not yet as good in quality as CCDs but is orders of magnitude cheaper to manufacture. It also has the advantage of direct addressing pixels so you can "zoom in" on a part of the chip rather than having to read out all of the pixels each frame. This has implications in both video compression schemes and in very large format arrays.
