Bill,

Your post on Gardenburger (GBUR) peaked my curiosity so I checked out the company's website. I was particularly interested to see if they were foolish enough to sell "compressed salad". I was considering shorting the stock myself until I discovered that your definition of "salad" is completely different than colloquial English.

A five minute look at gardenburger.com reveals that Gardenburger doesn't use lettuce of any type in it's burgers. Admittedly, salads come in many forms, such as chicken salad, spinach salad, macaroni salad, etc, but Webster defines "salad" as

1 a : green vegetables (as lettuce, endive, or romaine) and often tomatoes, cucumbers, or radishes served with dressing

b : a dish of meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, fruits, or vegetables singly or in combination usu. served cold with a dressing

2 : a green vegetable or herb grown for salad; especially : LETTUCE

This is the definition that most of us in the United States use, and based on that, Gardenburger's products are not "compressed salad". According to the company, the Gardenburger Original contains fresh mushrooms, onions, whole grains, low fat cheeses, seasonings and spices.

The closest thing that they have to "compressed salad" is the veggie burger, which contains yellow peppers, red peppers, broccoli, Anaheim chilies and carrots, in addition to the ingredients in the Original burger.

Is it really necessary for you to libel and stretch the truth about companies that you don't like? Why not just stick to the facts. A person with integrity earns the respect of others while a phony like you will eventually fall out of favor. You are completely out of control.

Best of luck to you.

Dan

DISCLAIMER: I have absolutely no interest in GBUR stock, long or short. I have no opinion on the company's products or financial condition but I think characterizing their products as "compressed salad" is false. To the best of my knowledge, I have never tasted any product made by Gardenburger Inc.
