Hi Frank:

I did not follow carefully MOT's earnings report, but
the accounts seem to indicate they were stepping
away from IRID, and were unsure about Teledesic's future.
Remember that both Iridium and Teledesic rely on satellite
switching, whereas Globalstar has a bent-pipe structure
(the satellite is just a repeater) where all the electronics
is in earth-based gateways, and thus is cheap to repair or
upgrade. I do not recall off the top of my head the Skybridge
architecture, but I think it is also of the bent-pipe variety.
A problem of IRID is that many of its satellite died,
probably due to their electronics complexity.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
