CBS TO AIR Y2K DOC. TOMORROW! Will this start the panic? Pollys have parental supervision! Its rated PG. Denialists should instead watch "The Brighter Day"! Politicians will have their phones off the hook and will call in sick next Monday. Utility co. execs will be coincidentally all be taking their yearly vacations next week.

<Depending on the content this MAY cause a panic. I think we
are getting near the top of the roller coaster and about to start
the free fall. It is now just a matter of when.

DOCUMENTARY: We just viewed an advance copy of the Y2K documentary
that\'s going to air on CBS. Even part one, it turns out, is more
serious than we suspected. If enough people see this, it will
definitely have a major impact. Some sections of the documentary
certainly make the point that Y2K is serious while leaving the viewer
with some rather jolting images. Notably, there are isolated images of
police officers in riot gear and burning wrecks in the streets.

At the same time, the video does not come across as \"alarmist\" in any
way. In fact, the people here who have seen it were greatly impressed.
\"Wow!\" Very professional work.

Y2KNEWSWIRE has just learned -- and confirmed -- that the video feeds
for the Y2K documentary will be downloaded via satellite to CBS
affiliates on Thursday (tomorrow). Surprisingly, the network has
decided to air the first TWO parts of the documentary back to back
(parts 1 and 2). They will start airing as early as tomorrow night.

Check your local CBS schedule. Most air times will be between 7pm and
9pm.

Remember, this is airing in 48 major markets, reaching millions of
people. It MAY be a significant trigger event that raises awareness
among the general public.

<<Will planes fall from the sky? Of course!!! >>
Umm, that's scary. I live close to a naval base where they train pilots in F-15's and
B-52's. I often see them flying above my neighborhood.

re: planes falling from the sky term = hype

To me, planes falling from the sky means that the planes electro-mechanical controls freeze-up after the midnight January 1 2000. This is not very likely to happen.

The FAA air traffic control system could very well lock up and crash after midnight January 1 2000. This increases the risk of mid-air collisions between planes. This is different from "planes falling from the sky" on their own.

Anyone who has flown knows that planes are piloted by conscious professionals who know how to steer. So one may expect many more near misses and a collision or two nationwide as "worst case", most occurring on relatively near to airport runways where there is less maneuvering room for pilots to avoid each other. It's not like all the planes in the sky are going to smash into each other as in a bumper cars amusement park ride!

The real impact to society results from a long period of forced cancelation of 1/2 or more flights to increase "seperation distance" required for a manual ATS. That alone could trigger a big recession as anything connected to airports takes a big hit (airliners, catering, hotels, rental cars, resorts, shipping companies, and even the US Post Office.) Bears will identify this as a nice sharp pin for bursting our speculative market bubble.
