Reading the newspaper article from the Daily Telegraph, it stated that the treasury on the orders of the government gave the edict to the BOE to sell gold. You could postulate that the BOE was so ticked off at the order that they found the worst way to sell the gold so as to embarrass their lords and masters, Tony Blair and the Labour Government.
Is this too Machiavellian?
