There was nothing wrong with the content of his post. There was everything wrong with the thread he posted it on. It is fine to wear just boxers to bed in your apartment in NYC. But wearing just boxers on the NY subway will get you arrested (and only that if you are lucky.) Same city, different location. Same here. One big web site. Many locations. His post would have belonged on some threads. Not on this one. Why is that so hard to understand?

I agree that, if it works, the Vaxgen AIDS vaccine would be a godsend. I sincerely hope it does. How would you feel if on the VXGN thread you were inundated with people asking for help in how to use italics in their posts? Or perhaps a few dozen people decided to write about other drugs that treat cancer and heart disease. Surely you don't think those ailments are any less deserving? The point is, many of the same people you are calling "sanctimonious" would be the first to come to your aid to get the VXGN thread back on topic. Think hegemony not acrimony (g). - Jeff
