Thanks, Penni. 'Tis a puzzlement, why all kinds of major stuff are not done yet the seller wants to close on 7/23/99. As the house stands, I doubt it would appraise for the selling price. And even if it did, if the work isn't done then we are not going to buy it.

The seller is in a double bind on the garage: either he doesn't convert it into a garage, in which case he is in breach of contract; or he goes through the county permit process, which will take weeks, and he won't be able to close on 7/23/99, in which case he is in breach of contract. His attempt to convert the garage without a permit has been exposed, and now he's got to pick one or the other, neither of which is acceptable to him. Or maybe I am wrong, and he can get the permits pulled and the work done and inspected in a week.

We shall see. But if I am right, then we are walking. And the agent's contract with us expired, and I am not renewing it.
