"They" don't "make" stocks close "where they want to".

Go back and look at how the charts and news releases correspond to each other right before the previous expiration. I guess it could have been one hell of a coincidence that a rally got kill by those stories and the stock fell (I seem to remember) 7 points to close that Friday within 1/8 of two strikes lower than where it started those two days.
