Microsoft Corp. (MSFT): The world's largest software maker is expected to top earnings estimates for its fiscal fourth quarter when it reports results Monday. The company is expected to top by a penny or two the average forecast of 36 cents a share from analysts surveyed by First Call Corp. Revenue will rise to about $5 billion for the quarter ended June 30, analysts said, from $4 billion a year earlier. Microsoft fell 9/16 to 94 3/8.

codawg, to clarify my point. I usually sell my option holdings in an issue prior to the close on the day which earnings are released after the Bell.

There certainly are plenty of times when holding past earnings release will make you more $$$. But as I've said over and over, I don't like to get too greedy with Option plays. To me, taking the profit off the table when I am comfortable with my gain and the level of comfort is high ensures a successful long term strategy in this space. Obviously there are ways to expand profit margins in this strategy, I just don't enjoy expanding the risk element that I believe goes along with it.
