John, a few guys on the QCOM thread (new york and l.a. if memory serves) saw 'phantom menace' with the CineComm projection system and were very, very enthusiastic about it (audio/video folks who said it was 'clearly' superior).
Which I think is neat, but the beauty of this one is that the economics are so compelling, I think it would work even if audio/video was 10% WORSE. Between the cost of producing and distributing celluloid, the akwardness of timing (too many prints in Omaha, not enough in Boise), and piracy (the number here is humongous, even if you realize it's hollywood supplying the data), this CineComm outfit looks like prime territory to me. I can't figure out how to participate other than thru QCOM though, because the rest of the ownership is private. (Valueman, have I got that right?) best, mike doyle

I always assumed they would be working together since the head man at CineComm is Loral ex-president and G* board member Mickey Targoff. Obviously, QCOM and Loral have a relationship as well.
