I fully agree with you that AMD has a tough row to hoe in going head to head with Intel.

Is it already dead? The fact that the company took over half the U.S. micro market in a bit over a year doesn't suggest this. That represents one of the largest market share gains (and against a supposed monopoly) in history.

The early test results on the K7 sure get my attention. Whether they can penetrate the server market will become obvious in the near term, but it is difficult to dismiss their efforts in this sector with a few words, especially given their market theft of the past year when the exact same thoughts were voiced by many with respect to the PC micro market. Put up some hard data with respect to why you think it will not gain penetration if this is your view.
