Usually, 1 x "position" is around $15K (max) and I rarely have to expend all 10 pieces on something; in fact most of the time I'm in 1x something and then "doubling up" 2x if it drops and that's all there is to it. (chasing that damn BOB Leprechaun down to what, ~38 ? got me to the 3x level... fwiw - I shoulda bought again, 4x BOB = 1200s @ ~36.5 on the ex-dividend day itself but -! I felt heavy already, in a thin stock, holding 1800s and, not very comfortable with the unfamiliar BOB) They're not supposed to go down before ex-dividend and then go up on ex-dividend day, for goodness sakes ! Sometimes I'll do LEAPS instead of stock, and buy-down to accumulate 10 LEAPS and the whole thing, 10 LEAPS will be ~$15K. Haven't done that in awhile. I'd try to get 10~30% paper profit and then sell 7~9 LEAPS and keep the "free" LEAP(S) around. I like to "scalp" to accumulate stuff because I don't get so emotionally involved when the "free" shares/contracts, whatever tank. Yeah, I know it's an illusion but WTH. You know, you and I are usually trying to nail some kinda turning point, Berney - but this ain't no 'zact science or nothing, man. 'Course the thing is, you and Paul are fast - you'll plunk down a semi-tractor trailer-rig fulla dough on something and if the sto don't cross and starts to roll around you're outta there. >we will see where we are at the end of the year... oh man... I'm holding 30 positions in a slow-moving CORE of un-leveraged stox and, yeah - it's up 40% YTD but I kinda doubt it'll do much more than that by the time Santa comes down the chimney. Trading? This year I'm raking off what ever is left over whenever there's something left over and, you know, buying baubles for MadameGonzo and bopping over to New Orleans to drink Zazeracks and eat beignet at Cafe du Monde at twointhemorning and stuff like that (since I can't ride the train over to Amsterdam any more ;-) If BOB behaves we'll cash him out, mebbe go to Austin next weekend and try to find a bar that makes a decent Manhattan; mebbe ring up this fella there who's got a shiny stainless steel exhaust system that goes "blahh ! " (^_^) for my little spyder. Hell, I'm happy just to be here, go there, say "ahhh", go "blahh". Have a glass o' Irish and take the wrapper offa your favourite box o' tobacco products, Berney - we be stylin' this Stock Market, Dude ! -Steve
