I watched the Nova two-hour special on the Apollo program. It was interesting to see footage of the Sov N-1 rocket, a huge booster in the Saturn 5 class. They had a good lunar program; it's kinda too bad the N-1 blew up.
The other thing that sorta registered on me for the first time is that Apollo was never about space exploration, it was about peeing on territory. So the foreshortened Apollo program was foregone. I wonder when the next person will walk in moondust.
Probably a Chinese, rehearsing a Mars mission ...
