Hi Jim, one argument by a friend of mine is that if the Government invests in the market, that responsibility would be off limits to any political party... it would be an independent agency... and by doing so, the Government will be adding stability to the market because of it's holdings... I personally prefer to invest on my own... why should I even leave that to the Government.... so that Congress can build an even more extravagant country club, or raise their retirement salary from $130k to $250K (for that kind of assured retirement and benefits, I surely would like to become a PUBLIC SERVANT)...NO THANKS... I think I can do just fine on my own... unfortunately, the option is not even there... best regards amein
