$1,500 is the minimum charge. Your average etrade customer does not spend that much on commissions in a year.

And if you think the hyperactive daytraders will move to Merrill, read the footnote:

* This service is not designed for day trading, market timing or other extreme trading activity, including excessive options trading.

So while they claim it is "unlimited", it really isn't. Looks like false advertising to me, and no threat to etrade.

I have only made 30 trades or so in '99. So if I make even 70 limits at E trade that's only 1400 plus MERRILL LYNCH SUCKS IMO!
