the sad truth, david eddy, is this: those who threaten us are ALREADY here; their faces quite devoid of mud.

there are y2k compliant viruses,
y2k compliant weaponry,
y2k compliant foreign and domestic zealots
who
look like us,
talk like us,
dress like us
who:
are already here,
stateside,
awaiting paralyzation of our military response.

it has always been said that the army crawls on its stomach. i'll go further and even grant you, all those stomachs are y2k compliant.

however, the fuel to keep them 'crawling' is dependent upon refineries that simply will not refine anymore post y2k.

that 4 days supply of fuel stockpiled in this nation will get this army, national guard, or conscripted militia from here to the corner grocery warehouse.......oh, let's be generous and give them a month.

any evidence that the military has taken a crash course in 'cracking' crude oil in those 4 days worth of West Texas low sulfur holding tanks?

fwiw, my appreciate for the 'radar o'reilly's' of this post M.A.S.H. world has deepened 40-fold as we have dealt with and are still dealing with the logistics of food/fuel/shelter/clothing/script for what is ahead.

but if the army can't move quickly, which is what our currently ensconched enemy stateside is counting upon, what good does it do for them to have military green Charmin in abundance for their asses?

If our complex weapons systems don't work as we cross the mythical 1/1/00 line, so what? Who can threaten us? Who or what can attack us? The One World Government battalions? Russia? Last I looked, we still have two very effective moats & Russia is pretty much face down in the mud... starting over from 1917.

Quite correct. And that is another reason that the US is often seen as a safe haven for investor's wealth, in whatever form that may take.

The only threat that I worry about are attacks on our infrastructure, electronic, or physical. It is not without justification that there are efforts underway to deal with biological and chemical terrorism, essentially a poor man's nuclear weapon.

If there are problems overseas, some may see the US as being to blame (since it was our technology that caused it), and certainly wouldn't shy about looking for some "payback". Besides, attacking the US, verbally or physicall, has usually been a great means of distracting a nation's population from their domestic problems.

As for military logistics, except for spare sparts and ammunition, there aren't many things the military isn't able to obtain off the shelf in the civilian economy. And they will have first dibs on anything that is needed to preserve general good order and security (like diesel and lubrication products).
