Kevin,

The value of your puts rise when AMD goes up. That is generally considered to be "long."

The price of puts goes down when stock goes up. When your position is short, that's exactly what you want: Sell high (first), buy back low (later), or ideally, let the puts expire worthless, with you keeping all the money.
