I'll bet they didn't think of it.

If you stop to think about that, 56k modems are going to be a thing of the past. Broadband and ADSL are coming. Which one would you design in? Let the manufacturer deside that.

Forget modem. Lack of Ethernet port is alarming. both cable modems and xDSL devices use Ethernet.
