*That day will never come.*

Referencing "Bandwidth will solve all the shortcomings of 266MHz. Wasting bandwidth will replace speed in the future. "

Bandwidth will be plentiful, processing power mute. Bandwidth is increasing at a rate of at least 100% every four months. Manipulation of bandwidth is actually increasing this trajectory. Kinda blows ol' Moor's law out of the water – processing is being beat at its own game.

Processing is on the move to the periphery, not the center . . . witness the long drawn out death of central processing that began with the withering of the mainframe market and is now shooting through PCs.

The rise of handsets and information appliances that use JAVA or JINI are validating my point (by the way, why are the likes of MSFT focusing on CE now?). After all, only lots-o-bandwidth could solve the problems that confronted JAVA in the beginning, and allowed the programmers time to catch up to where they are now. Stripping out the guts is what the future is all about.

Ignoring this move will cost you dearly. Go ahead bite and thrash on the hook like a trout, you only further expose your personal paradigm wherein egocentric thoughts beget myopic vision.

Life is short, expand your mind. I at least consider your ramblings.
