Hmmm... when I lived in Montreal, "shagging" meant grabbing onto the back bumper of a car stopped at an intersection, then ducking down so that the driver couldn't see you in the rearview mirror... and sliding along behind the car as far as you could on the icy roads until:

a.) the driver saw you
b.) you felt like letting go
c.) you hit a patch of dry pavement

Note:
"A" and "C" were NOT the preferred ways of terminating your free ride...;-}>
