Seems pretty intresting techonology with a very bright future. If they can get these contents into airplanes, read a book while driving, at night while going to sleep etc.
So whos going to be flipping? Seems like even at 20 its pretty cheap for the future prospects and rich backers too.

About Audible Overview

Audible Inc. has created the first end-to-end system for secure delivery and management of premium audio content via the Internet. It markets the Audible MobilePlayer™, a 3.5-ounce, handheld player that holds 2 hours of audio for mobile playback and the MobilePlayer-PLUS that holds more than 7 hours of audio; the AudibleManager™, a software system that manages access to, scheduling and automatic delivery of audio programming; and Audible.com™, a Web store offering more than 15,000 hours of spoken audio programming from more than 95 different providers. Audible's investors include: Microsoft Corp. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Patricof & Co., Ironwood Capital, ATT Ventures, The Thomson Corporation, The Intel Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation, and Hambrecht & Quist LLC.

Audible's end-to-end audio delivery system allows audio to be downloaded to portable playback devices. The Company has recently announced a series of partnerships designed to bring the Audible content service to handheld computers powered by Microsoft's Windows CE Operating System. AudiblePlayer, the application software that enables such devices will be commercially available in Q299. The Company has also announced partnerships with Diamond Multimedia Systems and Creative Labs designed to make future versions of these companies' portable audio devices fully "AudibleReady".

Audible's business is geared toward the estimated 84 million people who drive alone to work each day, the 40 million mobile workers who spend 20 percent of their time on the road, the 50 million people who exercise regularly, and other consumers who are looking to enrich those times when their eyes are busy but their minds are free.

Audible.com

Audible.com houses more than 15,000 thousand of hours of content, and its collection grows by several hundred titles and programs every month. Programs include a broad array of business programming, including management- and industry-specific audio journals, newsletters, audiobooks, news programs, conference proceedings and lectures as well as essential investment advice and commentary. General programming is arrayed across 80 categories of content including education, fiction and nonfiction, humor, spirituality, sports, and time-shifted radio programming.

Audible.com offers notable savings on all programs; audiobooks, for instance, are priced up to 60 percent less than cassette versions.

Audible Inc.'s partners include more than 95 leading audiobook publishers, business conference providers, and educational and cultural institutions. Partners include The Wall Street Journal, CNBC/Dow Jones Business Video, Harvard Business School Publishing, The Economist magazine, Worth magazine, Nightly Business Report, Investment Insights, Executive Excellence, DemoLetter, Gartner Group, Technologic Partners, Harper Audio/Caedmon, Random House AudioBooks, Time Warner AudioBooks, Simon & Schuster Audio, Books on Tape, Penguin Audiobooks, Recorded Books, Dove Audio, Stanford University, and public radio programs such as Sound Money, Fresh Air, Car Talk, Marketplace, and Garrison Keillor's monologues from A Prairie Home Companion.

Audible MobilePlayer and MobilePlayer-Plus

Downloaded programs are played back through the Audible MobilePlayer or MobilePlayer-Plus, 3.5-ounce, handheld playback peripherals, or through a computer's sound system. Audio downloaded to the MobilePlayers can be played back through headphones or via any stereo system, including car stereos.

The Audible MobilePlayer holds about two hours of spoken audio. The MobilePlayer-Plus has more than seven hours of audio playback capacity. The player's digital format is far more durable than tape-based audio. The player also permits indexing for quick access to specific content segments and audio status reports for "eyes-free" content navigation. Audio content can be downloaded quickly over the Internet, with one hour of programming available in as little as 6 minutes using a 56K modem.

The AudibleReady Initiative

Audible has entered into multiple partnerships with manufacturers of handheld computers and portable audio devices with the objective of enabling such devices for optimum interoperability with Audible's spoken audio content service. The Company expects to commercially release its AudiblePlayer application software in Q299 for ROM bundling as well as after market installation by end users. AudibleReady portable audio devices are expected to be commercially available in the second half of this year.
