Our mountains are older, and more rounded, and lower (the biggest is shy of 4000ft. above sea level), but they are well- forested and populated with many animals. The Shenandoah Valley, which is between ranges, is beautiful, and there are two roads, Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, that reach from about North Carolina to West Virginia and give one many memorable views while driving. There are also a reasonable number of restaurants and lodgings administered by the Park Service, and plenty of places to pull over and ogle a vista....
