If we hit 100 this year, it will be a "10-bagger" over the 1-year period from Nov 98! And as I have already stated here, I will then have to sell almost all of my LSI this year itself. Since I have already sold some this year, any more selling would likely put me in a higher tax bracket... Not that I would let the tax tail wag the investment dog, but I would rather pay less taxes than more (who wouldn't!).

Yes, if we make it to 60 or 70, that should be good enough for this year. I hope that if we do hit 100, it will be sometime after Jan 1, 2000!

Shane,

I see your point with regard to LSI not hitting $100 this year. But then can you justify the valuations of a company such as Lucent? In my view it is outragous, but dont let that stop the stock going up!

I have a strong feeling once the earnings are out of the way we will see a period of extreme "correction" by as much as 20-25% (in the Nasdaq anyway), before going up again. Things have just gotten too high too fast. Even I as the mother of all optimists have started thinking about taking some profits (not in LSI but my other tech stocks), and admit that the market can not possibly be justified at these hefty valuations. Microsoft at $500 Billion, and Lucent at $200+ Billion?!! I may understand Microsoft's valuations (for example they just raised their customer support fee from $90 per call, to $300 per call, and they have no shame in doing it either!). But Lucent at $200+ Billion is a bit (actually a lot) to digest (in my humble opinion of course)!

Regards,

"Now that I think about it - there could be some 'smart' people out there who
see the storage biz that LSI has and give it a very big (and justifiable) valuation
based on some of the results coming out elsewhere. If you believe some of the
valuations in that area then it is possible for LSI to be much higher based solely on
this. Those same 'smart' people could then tack on the Sony PS I's and II's cash
flow comfort numbers. Plus very strong strength in other consumer areas and very
strong strength in networking. Which leaves servers and wireless. LSI needs a big
design win in the latter area I feel or at least some good PR - I suspect there are
many disbelievers. Maybe LSI should do a storage components/systems tracking
stock - ha ha. So if people want to go nuts then I guess it could be possible but I
would not assume this is a sure bet at this stage.<end - add>"

Ha Ha!

Got the wireless answer big time...

Give me a C
Give me a D
Give me a M
Give me an A

Intel go home!

Now take the valuation argument a bit further. If the 'clever' people give the wireless valuation piece IN ADDITION TO THE STORAGE PIECE, people can then give LSI a valuation of ________.

Ha Ha.

Market dumb asses lose round 4.
