<<"these smaller firms will undoubtedly create some small problems.">> The reason all firms have contingency and recovery plans--- small and short term inconveniences with workarounds are expected but should have little or no effect on the products or services provided....

<<"I know the big firms don't give a damn about the little guy but we
do. We're all the little guys.">> Wrong! The little guys must function in order for the BIG GUYs to do their thing! AQlso most small to mid size companies rely mostly on PCs,,, the fastest and easiest and cheapest fix. Worry more about the embedded chips no one is thinking about in the mid size firms... those can cause inconvenience for a few days...but nearly all have a workaround of one sort or another.

<"had a little fire causing most of us to lose some money today.">> One of many reasons I do most of my trades through a full service broker. The slightly higher trade prices paid are often made up easily excluding this type of an unforseen problem.. actually if you have a good broker he/she will save you $$$ over the course of a year (if your account value falls into certain peramiters)...

I am just having a problem with all the hype being put out from many fronts that could cause enough panic where PANIC becomes the problem and not Y2K.
