Are we going to get to have the BMs with new messages to appear(as in the old version) before the whole page loads?

Ah! I think I see the problem. I don't have many subjects bookmarked, so it doesn't make a difference on my system, but those who have hundreds of bookmarks would be in a different situation.

In the beta, the entire list of topics is put into a single table. Most browsers will render the table only when they've collected the data for all the elements. In the old SI, the topics with new messages are rendered in a separate table which means it is (on most browsers) displayed before the other messages.

Seems an easy fix for them. I think it would still look the same if the table for topics with new messages was closed and a new one started for the others.

AugustWest,

We were a little bit lucky on this one. We thought many people would refer to Silicon Investor as SI. The symbol of Silicon being Si is a neat coincidence. (g)

As Brad and I were deciding on a name for the site, we wound up with

Silicon Valley Investor Network (too long)

Silicon Valley Investor (too long)

Silicon Investor

We were located in Silicon Valley and our theme... investing in tech stocks will lead to stellar returns in the long run. Going with Silicon Investor as the site name made sense considering our location and purpose.
