taxman, I am looking to buy puts on Sunw--simply because of its current run up. I had thought about IBM but there is really no reason for anyone to short that stock. Sun and even MSFT (if it keeps going up to significantly higher levels) seem like better candidates. I plan to play the post earnings drop. Might even look at the S and P itself---or Nasdaq 100.
Everyone expects a post earnings correction. If the volume really picks up on Monday (assuming the market is positive), it might be time to do some hedging. I might protect my long MSFT position in my margin account with either covered call selling or buying puts. Of course only if we see a big run up.
Remember that a race to the exits might be very fast--well ahead of the expected dates. Why would anyone want to wait until after earnings season to get out of the market? The logical time would be now. Why wait for a decline to get out?

BTW--I would go short MSFT only on very short term basis and only for small amounts. I would not touch my retirement account stock and some leaps holdings.

if i were to add to my microsoft position, i would buy the leaps.

Well, my ZMFAO's have gotten back to the price I paid for them in January. Of course, back then they were called ZMFAG's and they've split since. :-)
