That was a very classy real-life demonstration of your point.

For the record, as much as I admire Lindy, I would never invest the way he does. Though I have confidence in his decision-making abilities, I couldn't sleep at night being 100% invested in any one stock even knowing I was following his lead.

More important, I strongly believe in the idea that we take control of and be responsible for our own personal finances. (On a thread like this in which everyone is probably doing that, that statement might seem corny. ) I can't boast Lindy's 100%+ gains for the year. But I can boast that I'm sleeping very well at night with my ten stocks and 50%+ gains for the year. The difference of 50 percentage points between the two portfolios is my cost of sleeping well -- a cost I'm happy to pay because it makes me even happier than the 50% gains.

In summary, I think you and I are on the same page.
