Sherman,

I considered making this a PM, but since this is the MCOM thread, I thought others might be interested as well.

I'm seriously considering a Ricochet modem/service contract and hoped you wouldn't mind answering a few questions. I live in the Seattle area and the general comments I've heard are nothing but positive. A couple of things I wanted to find out before I take the jump:

1) How's the stability of the platform (i.e. how often do you lose your connection)?

2) What's the difference between the SX and original modems? (can't seem to get a clear differentiation from the info on the Ricochet website)

3) Power supply specs list battery life at 6 hours. How does this compare with what you are actually getting?

4) Any specific problems with interference?

5) Any indication from Ricochet that existing customers will get preferential pricing treatment on the transition to 128K? And, any indication of what pricing will be?

6) Any feedback on the 128K beta?

7) Any negatives that might not be obvious to the non-subscriber?

The list of reasons for my consideration of Ricochet service would take too much space (and bore everyone), but one of them relates directly to investment in MCOM; I'd like to have first-hand experience with the quality of service. For me (I lack trading skills, so I'm a buy and hold investor), the key to MCOM's success is the ability to grow the user base at a rapid rate. The valuation is just too high for anything other than a pure internet play if there is not the potential for explosive growth. My general impression (and something you alluded to) is that Ricochet is somewhat of a well kept secret.

Thanks in advance.
