IS THIS RUMOR CIRCULATING?.....CMGI/ AltaVista to buy out Lycos? story...

I have been saying that CMGI should buy LCOS for quite some time now, and an article in Monday's
Investor's Business Daily (which is out today) also discusses the idea. IN FACT, the article states that
AltaVista is searching for acquisitions and that CEO Rod Schrock "freely admits he'd welcome a merger
with Lycos."

AGAIN: AltaVista CEO FREELY ADMITS HE'D WELCOME A MERGER WITH LYCOS

Interesting...

Schrock was quoted by the IBD for saying, "I don't see a downside to it."

The article goes on to state that Ullas Naik, analyst with FAC Equities believes that, "For CMGI, it doesn't
make sense to own a fifth-ranked portal... it would be better for CMGI to see if there is synergy between
AltaVista and Lycos."

This news in addition to Wetherell stating in the past that he intends to build the largest portal in the world
leads me to believe that Lycos just may get taken out by CMGI. IMHO, it makes perfect sense. The article
also points out a very valuable point, as Barry Parr, an analyst at International Data Corp. believes "Lycos
offers services that AltaVista lacks, such as community Web sites Tripod and Angelfire. Combining Lycos
and AltaVista would pose a serious threat to rivals."

Whooaa. Page A6 - IBD

I love it!

Just yesterday, I posted about this potential reality on the "Stock Rumors" thread. Here is a link to that
post:

24.0.102.78

If CMGI takes out Lycos next, I truly believe that they will possess the potential to become the biggest and
most successful Internet company in the world.

Hi Jenna,

The Earning Plays newsletter and the wathclist are beautilly designed.
They are very impressive on the hard copy, but as one subscriber made this note:

Message 10553000

I think we could have TWO options:

1) If one click on File - Print then one would have the color and
the asis image as one sees on the screen.

2) But there is somewhere at the corner of the page an option
worded as: View Printable (as in ATT Worldnet) or FORMAT FOR
PRINTER ( as in MSN Investor ) then the document will be
reformatted as black and White TEXT without all the images and
the ads (as in MSN investor).

The second option will save a lot of ink and time for printing.

Just another suggestion to our great newsletter and watchlist.
