ahhh, the Foundation series is a work of science fiction perfection. Yes, I read he did write long hand up until about 1982. Then he was talked into using a word processor. He kept the same word processor until his death. I also read he required very little editing after completing a book.

I wonder if someone will ever make a movie "The Foundation Series" I suspect it would be a terrific hit if done well.

Michael

You know that place, Mohonk Mountain House, that I was promoting for a (pricey) get-together?

mohonk.com

Asimov dedicated one of his books to "My three favorite places in the world, Paris, New York and Mohonk Mountain House."

(Approximately.)

I've probably already mentioned that.

He wrote in long-hand I think.

I think not. If I recall correctly, it was Asimov (though it may have been Heinlein) who had a long roll of paper he ran through his typewriter so he wouldn't have to keep inserting pages, which wasted time.

What I most resent about Asimov is that he could write that well and still claim that he never rewrote -- that he just sent the first drafts in for publication.

Never read Abbott, maybe if I ever get rid of this stack of books I'm currently reading I'll check a few out. Have read a lot of Ben Bova though. If you like Asimov and foundations you would enjoy him.

The best thing about talking about all these great writers is its given me a chance to build a terrific list for the future.
