Ditto. Save the plane for later, like a mkt cap above $250M. <eom>

Hi Scoob,

That's the problem with "jet(s)" - they're very expensive. And, usually you have to have flight crew(s) on standy-by most of the time. That's for the P&Gs, GM's and IBM's, not us.

I previously owned my own Mooney Chaparral (..4-place, 200mph, high-performance, single-engine, low wing, with retractable gear..) which I used occasionally in my work and work-related travel; which made it affordable. When your going to see larger corporations (..who have aircraft..), they are usually quite accommodating - when it comes to hanger space and a ride to the meeting.

There is usually an airfield within 20 miles of anywhere, that will handle light-to-medium aircraft and turboprops (Beech KingAir, Rockwell TuboCommander, Mitsubishi MU-2, etc.). It makes flying in, doing business, and flying out very convenient; and much safer than driving 60 miles in your car.

I'm quite certain the aircraft would be leased, as an outright purchase is unusual, and unnecessary. We're not talking about next month here either (..unless I buy one myself, which is likely..).

Again, it depends on where you're going. If it's L.A. to NY City for a meeting in Manhattan - you take TWA. If it's DesMoines to Cape Girardeau, Missouri you take eConnect-One - to avoid changing planes and losing your luggage.

As with any subject, there are practicalities to be considered. If you fly the airlines, you're stuck with their connections and schedules. If you take the company bird; you come and go when you wish - there's no insence peddling (..steal your laptop..) Moonies at the airport - and, if it looks really cruddy....YOU CALL IT OFF and go have a good steak and a brewski. "..Manana.." is a concept I learned early, in Panama! No flight (private or commercial) is so important (in my book) that you "..HAVE.." to go anywhere in cruddy weather.

Going through customs at the General Aviation Ramp is one heck of a lot less hassle than joing the thundering herd in some Banana Republic air terminal. I grew up (and learned to fly) in Panama, and then flew a twin for a construction company between Ft. Lauderdale and in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island after graduating from commercial flying school in North Miami. This is not fun and games stuff, it the ultimate in effcient use of executive talent.

If your talking about some fat-cat (Augie Busch) who has to be Limo'd to work, Helicoptered to the airport, Lear'd to Minneapolis and wined-&-dined with the snooties and the Country Club; that ain't me - and won't ever be part of eConnect (IMHO).

But, grabbing the laptop and briefcase, scootering over to the local airfield, flying my push-pull to Colorado Springs to meet with a major online casino developer; now we're talkin'.... And, I usually plan my trip so I get there mid-morning, spend a day with the client, stay overnight and relax, then fly home the next morning. Unless were only talking a couple of hours each way; i.e.: DSM to KC or DSM to Minn/StPaul, etc.

Commercial air service out of DesMoines is quite expensive when you look at fares and schedules; and, you always end up going through O'Hare, Cincinatti, Atalnta, or St. Louis to get to anywhere (yuk).

By the way, there'll be a seat with laptop table with your name on it, so you can Sat-Link out the news enroute..!! and all the free Ginger-Ale you can guzzle..!!

Cut us a little slack here, Scoob...!!

John :-)
